Need to have my roof replaced, I see this happening very frequently across Houston. Looking for advice

Hello,

So my roof started leaking the last storm we had a week or so ago, and I had an inspection..

Roof is 15 years old but is in bad shape, Texas heat, winds, hail etc. Roofer has said I 100% have a complete replacement claim, also since my shingles are older he would have trouble sourcing a match.

He said that he'd upgrade me for 'free' to Architectural shingles. They kind of look 3d versus the normal flat ones..

I did a wee bit of research and they are indeed better, but seems that they are much less labor intensive to install – so probably why they offer the 'free' upgrade.

Anyway, before I contact my insurance company and come up with my deductible – I just wanted to see if there was any good advice on things to be aware of.

I've never replaced a roof and I know nothing about roofs other than what I just typed.
