Need some help with a newly purchase vehicle

Hi everyone, so recently I purchased my first car. However I brought it from my dads friend who lives in Louisiana.My dad is also there hence why I was able to buy the car. But I live in Houston and have a Texas drivers license.So I purchased the car, he handed me the keys and the title and I was on my way. Here’s the situation though I managed to get the car to texas safely, now I have the title and I have insurance on the car now. How would I go about registering the car and get plates ? I don’t have any plates on the car currently and cannot drive it. Do I just need to bring that signed title and proof of insurance to the DPS? Thanks 🙂
