Need reliable suggestions for vet clinics and groomers!

I live on the North West part of Houston and am inheriting two dogs and a cat. They all need wellness checks, flea medication, and grooming. Money is rough right now and I’m scared of spending upwards of $300+ just for vet checks and flea meds. I’m also terrified of places like PetCo for grooming. Where do you guys go? Do you have any tips for vet costs, such as pet insurance? I’ve lived in Houston all my life but don’t really know much about where to go. Thanks!

Alternatively, pet friendly places to take the dogs since they need to lose weight. Do you have any favorite locations or dog parks?
