Need Help – Trying to find a court date for the arrested criminals that killed my childhood best friend

Long story short – Last year, my childhood best friend was killed on his way home from picking up dinner for his family. The police were able to catch the perps soon after, which they've remained behind bars within our Houston city jail. However, it's now been over a year since they were arrested and there's been no updates and/or court hearings to convict these criminals. Is there a way for me to see if/when a court hearing/trial date is? Knowing these criminals have been arrested and taken off of our Houston streets is great, but waiting for over a year, and likely more, to see a conviction is heart wrenching. Any insight and/or understanding of what can be expected is greatly appreciated.
