Need Help Identifying Park/Community Center in Houston
I remember going to a park/community center for an event several years ago. For the life of me I can’t recall what place it was. Y’all seem to enjoy investigatory stuff and Houston history, so I figured I might ask here to jog everyone’s collective memories and see if anyone might recognize the place.
Here is what I do remember about it:
•Shallow parking lot fronting the street, maybe one row of pull in parking, with driveways at both ends of the lot. Space for maybe 20 cars?
•Medium-sized older one story building. Probably built in the 1950s
•Wood sign with facility name between street and parking lot
•Homes in the immediate vicinity were older (1940s-1950s) and lots were wooded
•Dead-end street nearby (I remember turning around there after I drove by it initially)
I went there back in 2011 for an Aramco half-marathon volunteer appreciation event, if anyone happened to be there and know exactly what place I’m talking about.
Back then I wasn’t as familiar with certain areas of town as I am now. I think this place was somewhere north of I-10, possibly in The Heights or GOOF. Maybe Near Northside. I’m not really sure. I’ve gone through most parks on that side of town on Google maps and look at street view but haven’t found a match.
Thanks in advance!
