Need Help Fostering Pregnant Cat

Hello everyone! In just a few days I am going to begin TNR (Trap Neuter Release) on a colony of stray cats at an apartment complex in Porter. This is a social project that aims to spay/neuter all of the cats, get them some shots, and an ear tip to indicate they have been fixed. This is widely considered the most humane and economically efficient way to manage the stray cat population. This significantly lowers the stress of the population, reduced fights, illness, and some other things as well.

I have a few problems

The biggest of my concerns is a pregnant cat. The cat isn’t as feral as some of the cats but still won’t let you get too close. As such I haven’t been able to determine or even guess how old she is, how long she has been pregnant for, and especially not how many kittens she will have. I have some support from a TNR group to get 2 cats surgeries done at a time (which definitely isn’t as ideal as all of the cats in 1-3 days). This isn’t optimal at all and as of right now I’m holding off in hope of finding support from a different rescue to TNR the entire colony at once. However, I obviously cannot spay the mama cat and return her to the colony, and I have not been able to find a foster home for her. It would be extremely tragic both for the colony, the mother, and the kittens if the birth took place outdoors without care in the colony. As this could be dangerous to them, will introduce more cats that can get pregnant etc.

This is why I’m here. If any of you are (preferably with a foster organization) able to foster a mom and her kittens, or can get me in contact with a foster organization that has room for a new mom I would be IMMENSELY grateful. I do not have the money, time, or resources available to foster this mom on my own. I realistically am struggling quite a bit to even TNR the colony but I am determined to get these cats the help they deserve.

If you are willing and able to commit to fostering the mom and her kittens I unfortunately will not be able to support you with the process. For this reason I would MUCH prefer someone associated with an organization help out, or at least someone with foster experience. The mom could very likely remain feral throughout the process and would need to be returned to her colony after birth and spay. The kittens would ideally be adopted out.

If you stayed along to read my long drawn out post thank you! If you or someone you know might be able to help please let me know. The vast majority of cats are domesticated animals and despite common opinion they are not suited for outdoor life, especially not as strays.

Please help me help these cats. <3
