Need Advices on First Home Purchase

Hi, I am a young chemical engineer graduated from UT who's looking to settle in the Houston area. I work in the Energy Corridor area. For the past weeks, I have been searching for fairly newly built houses in the Katy area ranging from 270K to 320K. Recently, I came across recommendations of looking into Bridgeland Cypress community. What are some of your thoughts on choosing between two major areas?
