Need advice for a trip

My partner and I are planning a trip as a gift to her 11 year old son. We're considering a few cities within driving distance of us and Houston is one. He's extremely smart and into video games, anime, thrills, science/space/math, music, art, and has a pretty open-minded and cultured palate for cuisine, especially for an 11 year old. What are some things to do there that might be fun for him?
