National Forest recommendations

My boyfriend and I are planning a birthday weekend for me the weekend before Thanksgiving. Not sure what the weather will be like since we are having an unexpectedly warm autumn so far here. We are debating between Davy Crockett and Sam Houston Forests, the latter being closer to Houston for food and museums and other amenities. But Davy Crockett looks like it has better views based on pictures. Which do y’all recommend?
