My wife and I are planning on relocating to Houston – where are good areas to live and work?

My wife and I are contemplating on starting our new lives together. I am currently residing in Honolulu and my wife is from Vietnam.

We are looking at good neighborhoods to reside in.

heard that Katy and Sugarland area good areas to reside in. How much do houses cost in these areas of houston?

I also work in health care profession as a registered nurse. So which hospital facilities are great places to work in? There seems to be a whole lot of hospitals in the Houston area

I am looking at working as a nurse at the VA at the Michael DeBakey VA Center. Is that facility a good place to work?

My wife is Vietnamese and I am mixed Korean/Japanese-American. How big is the Vietnamese and/or the Korean communities in Houston?

How is the weather like in Houston? I have asked a lot of people (though they are originally from San Antonio or Dallas areas) about the weather in Houston and they have said that it is very humid and hot during the summer time, and cold (as in the 40s – 50s) during the winter season.

And how often does the Houston area get hit by large/major hurricanes from the gulf? here in Hawaii, yes, we are prone to getting hit by hurricanes…..but rarely, at least during my time spent growing up in Hawaii, was my island hit by a major hurricane. I just dread the thought of seeing my house (and interior,…sentimentals) get blown away by a hurricane.
