My Predictions for the New Uniforms

I know uniforms are one of the hot topics on this sub so I thought I might as well add my own predictions. First before we can begin predicting our own uniforms I think it is very important to look at league trends over the last ten years.

League Trends for New Uniforms:

o Brighter Colors:

• Since the inception of Nike's Color Rush uniforms the league has started a trend towards having uniforms that are brighter in color. This trend can be seen with the Rams, Chargers, Cardinals, Jaguars, Titans, Lions, Vikings, Jets, Falcons, Dolphins etc. This can even be seen in all the new ‘throwback’ uniforms several teams had this season where nearly all of them used extremely bright colors.

o More simplistic looks:

• Every new uniform has been utilizing a more simplistic overall look. This can be seen with uniforms like the Dolphins, Jaguars and Rams. These simple styles complimented with brighter colors make jerseys look more appealing and more sleek. However, I think it is important to not be overly simplistic like the Cardinals because it just looks horrible in my own opinion. Again, most of the ‘throwback’ uniforms that were used this season also sported very simplistic looks.

What we know about Houston's new Uniforms:

o I feel like I will be a broken record on this sub repeating what has been said several times already, but I'll list a couple critical hints.

1. The logo will receive no changes. I interpret that this means that there will be no color changes for Deep Steel Blue, Battle Red and Liberty White.
2. Cal McNair teased that they are trying to use a new color (H-Town Blue) on one of the alternative jerseys, but will be an accent color.
3. There will be four uniforms, Primary, Away and two alternates.

My Predictions for the New Uniforms:

o Uniforms:

• Primary Uniform: Looking at league trends over the last ten years I can expect that the Texans will continue to stick with the trend of brighter colors. However, with there being no logo change I do not expect a color change. With that being said I fully expect our primary uniforms to be Battle Red. Since Cal took over the operations side of the franchise we have seen the red being used more and more, especially this past season with the Battle Red jerseys being used twice in-season. The utilization of Battle Red jerseys will make our primary uniform combinations more colorful.
• Away Uniforms: This is pretty easy, but I think we can all expect them to be the opposite of our primary uniforms, but white.
• Alternate Uniform 1: I do not think the franchise will want to abandon the utilization of Deep Steel blue, so I expect this jersey to use those colors. However, it is well known that our current color rush jerseys are a fan favorite which means that this jersey could follow the same color waves (Deep Steel Blue Jersey, Battle Red Numbers/Text and Liberty White outlines).
• Alternate Uniform 2: This could be the uniform that uses that ‘H-Town Blue’. However, like I mentioned before it is expected that it will be an accent color. As much as I'd love for it to be the main color of the uniforms, but I do not think the NFL or the Titans would allow it due to it potentially looking like the Oiler's jerseys. So I would either expect them to use Red or White as the primary color on this jersey. Though, I could see them using a darker blue, not as dark as Deep Steel Blue, but a blue darker than ‘H-Town Blue’ as the primary way to get around this issue.

o Helmets:

• Primary Helmet: Since the 2022 offseason we have seen the Battle Red helmet constantly teased. I have also seen that the helmet has been used as a centerpiece in official press conferences like when a new coach was hired or new draft picks make their first appearance for the team. We also saw them being used three times this season. The most important being when they wore them with the Color Rush jerseys. I think this was a subtle test that the team did to gauge the fan response with how a red helmet looked with a blue uniform and the fans loved it. All of this just points towards Houston using red helmets as their primary helmet.
• With the league rules being changed we all know Houston will continue to use a second helmet. However, this one has stumped me the most. My only confident prediction I could make is that the helmet will not be Deep Steel Blue. The reason I say this is like I mentioned before: the team used a red helmet with blue jerseys to gauge fan reception and it was really positive. This leaves me guessing that it will be Liberty White to truly have that all white look or a blue that would match the ‘H-Town Blue’ jerseys.
• Last thing I will say about the helmets I wouldn't be surprised if they remained mostly the same having the logo with no stripes. However I could see them incorporating a stripe. Maybe a blue and white one on red helmets?
