My plan to save the Texans
Hello,
My name is Jay. I come from the year 2024, where the Texans have just won their wildcard playoff game. I’ve come back in time to tell you how to achieve the best timeline.
Step 1– Sign Derrick Carr
Carr is a replacement level NFL QB, which is more valuable than you’d think. He is also free (except for cap space), and young enough to fix the position for a few years.
Step 2–Resign Tunsil
Make Tunsil the highest paid tackle in the league (with maybe a clawback for false starts).
Step 3– Trade the 1.01 to the Panthers for the 1.08, 2.08, and next year’s first.
This move capitalizes on our great draft capital, since we don’t need the pick anymore for a QB.
Step 4– Draft Quentin Johnson with the 1.08
-Johnson looks like a cross between Tyreek Hill and Davante Adams. He is an elite talent who will benefit from Carr and Tunsil.
Step 5–Draft Bijan with the 1.11
Yes, we have Dameon Pierce. Yes, he looks great. Yes, he was basically free. But Bijan is the next CMC and could be the focal point of our franchise. And like CMC, we can trade him in 5 years if we want more capital
Step 6– draft defensive line, linebackers, and offensive line in later rounds.
