My intuition tells me we’re taking Tyree

Based on my intuition as a diehard, all-encompassing, life-long Texans fan, who's sadly consumed every piece of media/content around the draft, I really think we're taking Tyree.

Caserio didn't completely tip his hand in last weeks press conference, but from his tone it's clear that he's frustrated and not super excited about the options in front of him at 2.

If we were really high on Stroud, Levis or AR and excited to select one of them at 2, things wouldn't feel so disheveled. The vibe I'm getting is that we're not confident in any of the remaining QBs and that they feel it would be a reach to take one of them at 2.

There's a lot of pressure on us to select a QB and its probably the rational thing to do, but it doesn't feel like theres conviction from our front office on either of the QBs and they're yearning for an alternative.

I don't see any realistic trade-back scenario as the Colts/Titans aren't going to give us a kings ransom and it doesn't appear the Falcons/Commanders want to move up. The price the Vikings would have to pay to move from 23 to 2 is also untenable. Generally speaking, outside of Bryce there isnt a player teams covet enough to mortgage their future on. We're stuck at 2, whether we like it or not.

Last year we stuck to our guns and selected Derek Stingley over Sauce, who was considered to be the more accomplished player at his position. Will Anderson is much more decorated than Tyree, but imo Tyree's a better prospect and scheme fit in Demeco's 4-3.

We've been absolutely atrocious against the run since DJ Reader left and our current 2 DE's slated to start (Hughes, Greenard) are both relatively undersized. Tyree immediately adds athleticism, length and size to our front 4 and has potential to be a great pass rusher as well.

Our lack of enthusiasm with the available QBs, coupled with the 49ers success plugging in Brock/Jimmy and building up roster around QB leads me to believe we're going to do the 'safe' thing and take Tyree.

Chris Simms along with many other NFL insiders absolutely loves Tyree. We would not be alone in having him as the top DE on our board. Will Anderson's very polished, has a diverse array of pass rush moves and plays with great motor/football IQ, but he's an underwhelming athlete who lacks the ability to bullrush against better lineman. He's going to have a good career, but I think he's going to be the 3rd defensive player taken in this draft and might fall out of the top 7.

We have the picks (this year and next) to comfortably move up to 7 or 8 and draft Levis/Stroud/AR if one of them slides (which will happen if we take Tyree), so we can still address QB.

Overall it fucking sucks that we cant get Bryce and our Hail Mary victory over the Colts is possibly a more annoying/comedic event than us blowing 24-0 lead on the Chiefs. Genuinely feel like we're living in a movie sometimes.
