My friend is alone in Houston with years depression.
I have a friend who has years of depression and badly need help. He divorced more than 10 years ago, has a daughter in college here mom has custody since divorce. He lost job in early 2019, had no money and thus moved out from apartment. His ex wife was kind enough to let him stay in her small rental house (less than 1000 sqft for less than $100k value) upon daughter's request. She thought he could find another job.
He completely ran out of money years ago and his ex gave him little money to survive. He refused to talk to his ex now and his ex cannot do anything more as her current husband (who is also kind) has separated with her due to this.
He is 54, without family, long term depression and bipolar (most probably). I live in California and can really do nothing. His ex contacted me but not complain. She is kind and told me she has done all she can do, and she worries his condition. He refuses to talk her, won't cook in the tiny rental house even though she sends eggs, meats, bread and vegetables weekly.
He has no insurance, but I feel the only way for him is to seek some help from government services. I don't live in Houston or Texas. So I am here and any suggestion is welcome.
BTW, his ex has done much more than I expected. I cannot ask anything more. If there is any number we can call to help and get him to see doctor, please let me know.
