My final call to all Houston Texans fan. A form of protest.
I have to admit, I give Cal McNair credit in the aspect in the fact that he has an entire organization, fan base, and now basically all of sports media telling him to one thing and him doing the complete opposite.
I have been a fan of this team ever since they were formed in 2002 and have put my blood sweat and tears into rooting for this team, throwing Texans watch parties, tailgates at the stadium, etc., etc., etc. but it is clear at this point that management is completely lost, and like many of you I feel it comes down to one thing: we can either keep Easterby or keep Watson.
When the rumors of Watson leaving first started I thought they were nothing more than the noise the sports media was trying to stir up on a slow news day. But more recently I have come to terms with the situation being VERY real, and there seems to just be one simple solution.
Many before me have voiced their concerns for Easterby but your complaints have fallen on deaf ears. Now that we have heard the thoughts of Texan greats like Andre Johnson and Arian Foster, I feel it as the time of the essence.
So here is my call to you. As of today, I will be boycotting the Houston Texans until Jack Easterby is fired. The Houston Texans will not see another dollar from me until the Watson situation is figured out. My family and our friends will not be going forth with season tickets. We will not watch the Houston Texans. Any action that we could make that would bring the Texans revenue I will be distancing myself from, and I’m hoping you will do the same.
Our words alone have not been enough, and I fear they never will be. So our actions need to be more than words alone and but the McNair’s where it hurts, their wallets. It is a shame that this is where we are, but we are well past that at this point. If the words of Watt, Johnson, Foster, Hopkins, Watson, etc. aren’t enough to get the point, maybe money will.
It is a personal travesty that after 20 years of fandom and thousands of dollars supporting this team later this is where we are, and I know I’m not the only one in this situation. But, at this point, the Texans are an abusive ex that you keep going back to.
Fire Easterby or I am gone. Fire Easterby or we are all gone.
