Must see/eat in Houston

Hi,

I'm from Canada and planning to visit Houston first week of November. I'm 42 years old and I'm not planning big/crowded museums visits.

I'll be located near Hyde Park and travelling by car.

What would be the hidden gem's worth visiting ?
Also, I'm planning a visit at The Pitroom BBQ. Does it worth the visit ? Any better BBQ place in Houston ?
