Musings on Houston vs Atlanta
Hey, I'm a fellow Houstonian and I’ve temporarily relocated to Atlanta for the past 6 months now. Not to be negative but this city is one the most overrated cities I've ever been too. Remind you I have been to every city in the united states plus been outside the country now lets compare.
- Food- Houston was listed as the most diverse city in the united states couple year back. All types of dishes and cuisine to try out. Atlanta seems like it has a bunch of chicken wings spot everywhere.
- Weather- it seems as it rains in Atlanta at least once everyday if not every other day. Yes it rains in Houston too but not like Atlanta. The only bad thing is that it seems to flood every time it rains in Houston.
- Nightlife- the nightlife in Atlanta feels as it is filled with just lounges and clubs. Also all the nightlife in Atlanta is spread out if one place isn't jumping or not your vibe you have to drive 5-10 miles for another spot; Pricey if your using uber all night. Unlike Houston were there plenty of bar hopping options. Houston- Montrose, midtown area for example may have 200 plus bars and clubs in a 5 miles radius plenty of places to choose from. Houston also has the greater heights, rice village and a couple other bar hopping neighborhoods. Don't believe me google bar hopping neighborhoods for Atlanta and Houston.
- Cost- I will say that Houston is way cheaper. When i first came to Atlanta i was paying almost 70 dollars a night in a drug infested hotel prostitution everywhere. That same price for a hotel in Houston will have you in a very nice area and hotel. If your looking for a house 150-200k Houston will have you living in a very lavish house and area not so much for Atlanta your looking at the slums. Don't believe me look it up on Zillow.
- Transportation- this is the only thing Atlanta has on Houston and its not even close. The train station/bus system here is outstanding compared to Houston which is horrible. Houston can learn a thing or two from Atlanta in this area. Overall- Houston is a megacity 4 biggest in America. Like they say everything is bigger and better in Texas. No disrespect to Atlanta but when i came down here they told me this was black Hollywood.
I've been to los Angeles and Atlanta is no where close to it. Atlanta outside of downtown and Buckhead is a rundown city with boarded up buildings run down stores and houses, with unnecessary and excessive trees everywhere that needs to be cut down. I tell people what downtown/midtown Atlanta looks like is what the whole Houston looks like. If its your first time visiting Houston you would think Houston has about 5 different downtowns. Houston looks modern and well built through out the whole city.
