Most affordable hotel to stay in preferably near downtown, but willing to go further for a better price?

I'll be in Houston for just 1 night, I'll be arriving on May 1 and will be leaving probably at night on May 2. Looking for a place somewhere near downtown preferably but willing to go further if the price and room are good.
