Mosquitos in Houston

How bad are the mosquitoes in Houston? Everything I am reading is not good. My husband got a really good job offer there, but I am afraid I will never be able to leave the house. I really really dislike mosquitos. And humidity. Not sure if any amount of money is worth it if they are really that bad there.
