Montrose vs Rice Village

Hi guys

I'm a 30 year old Australian doctor moving to Houston in August. I want to live somewhere reasonable distance from work (medical center) but also where I can enjoy what Houston has to offer.
From what I can read Montrose or Rice Village are good areas.

Which one do you think is the best location, and does anyone have recommendations for good apartment complexes? I have found a few online, but it is somewhat overwhelming just looking at pictures.

If I arrive mid July would it be achievable to move in by early August?
