Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reports ‘no racial bias’ in traffic enforcement for third straight year

In 2021, the sheriff’s office reported 49,358 traffic stops, an increase from 37,147 in 2020. Sheriff’s office data shows stops of Black motorists made up 11.7% of total stops, despite Black people making up about 5.9% of the population.
