Montessori Elementary to Traditional

Has anyone made the switch from a Montessori elementary to a more structured/traditional public school with success?

The self-directed and independent work approach is not working well for my child, so I would love to hear some personal experiences with the switch. Could you please share, if so? Thanks in advance for any insights.
