Mold or mildew in apartment, need help!

Recently moved into a new apartment and found what I assume to be mold in all of the vents/ducts. I only checked because the first night sleeping there, my partner and I both woke up with a strange sore throat, nasal drip, and headache which persisted until we left to sleep at partner’s place. Attached are images of the mold I located, apartment complex tried to tell me it was mildew – could really use some help with figuring this part out!

They’ve agreed to move me to a new unit, but am worried now that this issue is pervasive in the apartment complex, so not sure what to do besides thoroughly examining new units. Ideally, i’d like to somehow break my lease, but know that’s probably not possible now. Any advice/ID of what I saw is greatly appreciated.
