Might relocate to Houston
hi,:) I (F18) am currently thinking about moving to Houston, and i’ve been researching like crazy. i’ve thought about moving there for about a year. Not going to state where I currently live, but it is a small-ish town with a mostly white population, for reference, I am mixed (black & white), so i have struggled w seeing diversity all my life. I know that Houston is VERY diverse, and I have many other reasons I want to move there. Seeing as I am a young woman as well, I want to be safe. Some neighborhoods that i’ve researched that are safe are the Woodlands, Sugarland, & pearland. I also researched the hood parts of houston, and came up w greenspoint, sunnyside,& a few more. Currently I’m finishing high school, (1 month left) but i really want to just move to Houston by maybe this fall. I’m not working now but I doordash to make extra $$, and i’m getting a job within the next month. With everything saved up, if i Got lucky enough to find a $16-18/hr job in Houston would that be enough for everything? i know that could be a long shot.. but i’m an optimistic person. But from what i’ve heard, everyone always says they love Houston, there’s lots of culture there, lots to do, and overall people are pretty friendly.. :)While my current living situation is okay, it’s ideal for me to move this fall….. I forgot to mention! i’m going to visit this August, with my mother, and we’re gonna see the area, and check out some neighborhoods to make sure it’s what it’s cracked up to be. So, can anyone just give me some pointers for maybe how to stay safe, what to expect, and how much $$ i should aim to make? when i tell you i’m desperate to move, i am. However i want to do this the smart way, i’ve got plans for most of it, but ofc $$ is the main concern, and i would have a job in place first before i just move.
ANY & all types of help are very important to me and appreciated, please let me know any info i should 🙂
EDIT; i want to mention as well, i know there can be lots of crime in parts of Houston- ill save you the details, but i’ve been researching HEAVY now for a good few months. it’s not just some impulsive type of move, i just wanted to note that, I’m not exactly the naive type
