METRO rail loses signal priority

I saw a post discussing red line delays a few days ago but nobody referenced the underlying change, which is that the city is de-prioritizing metrorail in intersections. I am unable to tell if they are just doing this to the red line or other lines as well. If this becomes a universal change, it will vastly increase travel times for people who use the red line to commute to the TMC and/or downtown.

Attached a letter sent to the Recall Houston campaign that this was done over the objections of at least one Metro official and to the detriment of their employees. Anyone who is paying attention knows this is one in a series of initiatives to make Houston less friendly to transportation methods other than cars, but it's crazy that they are willing to inconvenience people in one of the most frequented transportation modalities in Houston which carries 40,000 people every day.
