Hi ShaylaJ, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
Knowing my purpose

I have learned that my purpose is what gives me the drive to get to the next level. Also the more self-motivated I am, the more successful I am. I remember why I chose to be in the business. So I align my thoughts and actions to work towards my goals. However, these goals changes over time which is why I constantly remind myself of my purpose in the business.

With this as my driving factor I’ve been able to achieve much success and even be awarded top producing agent at the brokerage, DiverseCity Realty.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is where it is now because I have created certain habits in my career: Communication, timeliness, intuition, and knowledge.

Real estate is a highly personal business. As a realtor I must be timely and have time management skills to ensure transactions go smoothly. Realtors need to connect with other people, interact with them, and intuit whether they may be potential buyers or sellers. Knowledge in this industry is extremely important, the more I know the better I can support my clients.

This business isn’t easy but I stay motivated and I know my purpose. Also I ensure that I partner with the right people will make the difference! Proverbs says “iron sharpens iron so friends sharpen friends”, so I’ve made it a point to ensure that I surround myself with individuals that have mutual respect, are like-minded and are pushing for greatness level of success.

I want the world to know that SJ Properties Team is a team of agent that I currently train, mentor and coach. Soon this team will transition to a brokerage and we will be one of the top-producing brokerages in Texas.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my bestfriend sister was in town for the week I’d take her to visits my family as they’d likely be excited to see her. I’m not really into the night life but we would certainly find some fun in the city.

We’d visit Willie G’s for a great dinner
We’d go shopping in the rice village and galleria
We’d have lunch Dave’s Hot Chicken on highway 6
We’d be sure to go to Post Houston for some great food options and photos!!
And of course I would take her to the well known Turkey Leg Hut to enjoy some of the best food in Houston.
