Meet Naana Danquah Jefferson: Mom, Wife, Creator, and Attorney
We had the good fortune of connecting with Naana Danquah Jefferson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Naana, why did you pursue a creative career?
Honestly, I feel like creativity choose me. It has always been a part of me in different forms all of my life. There would be a serious, gaping hole without it. It is such a beautiful, touching, and universal form of expression. A way of sharing a piece of your heart with others. .

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve had a love for art in many forms all of my life. Acting, singing, dancing, creating choreography, designing outfits, costume selection and more. My focus lately had been making bracelets and crocheting various items. It gives me great joy to make something I love and others love and treasure. It also about the process. Color selection, placement, the well wishes, prayers, and love I make with and send with each item. I do have to remind myself that not everyone will love and want what I make and be OK with that. It is not a reflection of my piece, but of their preference. Part of the work is identifying my ideal customer and making sure they know I’m here and what I offer.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love the Rothko Chapel and the Menil Museum. Discovery Green. Checkout some of the shops and walk around the Heights. Places to eat…Truth or Killen’s for BBQ, Reggae Hut and/or Cool Runnings for Jamaican. The Breakfast Klub for…breakfast.
State of Grace and Grace’s for a good meal and drink.. Pappasitos, Pappadeauxs, Pappas! Tiny Boxwoods.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Well, there are folks who have been there to listen to my ideas, encourage me, purchase from me, promote me and more. I’m grateful to each one of them. I have to shout out to my hubby. He has hugged me through my tears when I wasn’t sure what to do and how, he helps set up my vendor markets, listens to my random ideas, picks up my random online purchases, navigates my yarn and crafts that spill out of my craft room and more! I’m thankful for him.
