Meet Michelle Aldaco | Balloon Stylist
We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Aldaco and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michelle, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
It’s sort of hard to answer this question as there was really no thought back when I started. I just knew that the moment I made my first balloon column in 2018, I couldn’t stop. I then taught myself how to do other structures balloon related.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a self taught balloon stylist. I saw a picture on Pinterest of a beautifully arranged balloon decor and it really caught my attention. I then took the opportunity to do one for my son’s first birthday party and I couldn’t stop myself since. My first year of offering it as a business was really hard. The hardest part was trying to put what I’m capable of our there. I would get bookings once or two times a month and that really taught me to get better on the next one. My experiences from the moment of starting is what makes me the way I am when it comes to delivering my services. I wrote down so many goals but I concentrated on creating balloon arrangements better than my previous ones. I focused most of my energy in improving my skills and finding my own style. I don’t wanna say my technique is unique but every other artist has their own unique flair and I guess that’s what sets me apart from others. We all have our own distinctive styles and If a client sees a distinct sense in my designs, I guess that’s what draws them.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would love to start slow in Kemah. There are So many places to dine and see there. I would stay there on a slow monday until Tuesday and just hang out, get on a boat, get a tattoo perhaps and just dine from bubba gump to the flying dutchman and get some late night coffee. Mid week I would then wanna take them to the aquarium downtown Houston for lunch and hangout all afternoon. Most of my friends have little kids like myself so there’s no place better than the places I’ve mentioned. Then we’ll dine at Taste or Texas for dinner. I know they’ll love the tomahawk like I do. Approaching the weekend, I would take them to the galleria for an early brunch and walk around and then head back to my side of town (Katy) check out old katy and dine at the new Cheesecake factory that just opened on Katy Mills. I would then take them to watch a movie and what better place to do so other than Cut on Cypress. On the weekend we would then head to Galveston and visit their downtown after walking by the beach.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to share the spotlight with my family. They now live in a house that gets filled up with balloons every weekend. This business has turned our lives around and I am just thankful that I started when I did and to experience this opportunity at this point of my life.
