Meet Madison Hines | Entrepreneur & Visual Artist
We had the good fortune of connecting with Madison Hines and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Madison, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
Doing the things that I love makes me happy. Ranging from practicing my art to doing an episode for my podcast, being out in nature, or even trying something new and exciting. Being able to do these things at my own expense allows me to remain curious and not limit my fullest potential.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
XWIZDUMBX ®️ has been my form of art therapy for the last 7 years. It is a space that I’ve created which allows me to tap into new ideas and even release levels of stress. XWIZDUMBX ®️ Apparel sets itself apart from other brands by staying true to its mission around self-expression and awareness. More importantly, it focuses on bridging together color theory, urban streetwear, and textiles. Over time, XWIZDUMBX ®️ has grown from a personal outlet to an art form that I now can share with others.
What I am most proud of is not letting the expectations and pressures of society dilute my creativity and ideas around my artistry. Sometimes it is hard to escape the traditional ways of doing things. However, there comes a time when a change is needed. By having access to more resources XWIZDUMBX ®️ is trailblazing into a new market. Doing things in an unorthodox way has worked in my favor and I will continue to pursue in that direction because it has never led me astray.
Staying consistent is how I’ve gotten to where I am today. Remaining a student and continuing to learn and be curious about how things work keeps me motivated within my artistry. In the beginning, building my brand was easy because I was making clothes that I wanted to see on myself and others gravitated toward it. It only became harder when I was influenced by others that didn’t see my same vision. I’ve learned that many will make suggestions or even try to steer you in directions that may not be in the best interest of who you are or even within your art. I feel the more you “fail” and “make mistakes” within your craft the greater the opportunity for you to learn, discern information, share stories, and even build more confidence within yourself.
One thing I would like for the world to know about XWIZDUMBX ®️ is that it is more than just a brand. It’s a movement towards discovering who you are and owning your truth. XWIZDUMBX ®️ is about exploring who you are and the things that bring you excitement. It’s about tapping into your highest form of self and not needing anyone to validate who you are and what you represent.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the area, I would take them to all the best vegan and nonvegan restaurants. I would also take them to the beach, a few art shows and even the Houston museums. We would definitely hang out in the Warehouse District, Midtown, Montrose and Heights areas exploring art and discovering new activities.
The most fun and exciting places to check out are the ones that you’ve never been before, especially in the environments you energetically enjoy being in. If there’s something you want to explore whether it be an activity or event try it. You never know what you may learn about yourself and others.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, I truly have to thank myself for all my accomplishments. In the past, I had a habit of not crediting myself enough and learned the importance of patting myself on the back before anyone else. I would personally like to thank myself for staying committed to my overall mission and seeking out new ways to become a better artist and individual. I’d also like to show my appreciation for the ways of the universe and for allowing things to unfold most authentically. Since I was a child, I have always been hyper-aware and steadfast in what my heart truly desires. More importantly, I’d like to thank the younger version of myself who is still blossoming inside me. Without her passion and determination, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Her persistence and willingness to go against the grain has taught me a tremendous amount. Keeping her youth alive allows me to continue to get to know myself and pursue the things that truly make me happy. So shoutout to my younger self for her spontaneity and her willpower!
Lastly, I’d like to give credit to any friends, mentors and teachers who truly have accepted my light and insightfulness before I even knew how bright it shined. I thank those specific individuals for taking a chance on me, educating me, and even listening to my story.
