Meet Hadassah Lundy | Restaurant and Catering

We had the good fortune of connecting with Hadassah Lundy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hadassah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business derived from my passion for cooking and my desire for financial freedom. Being in the kitchen is like being in the lab for me, it’s the smell of the spices, the herbs and the presentation, and it also gives me a peace of mind. I’ve always enjoyed cooking seeing people happy while eating. It’s like I’m feeding them from my soul which is showing them the very essence of my love through my creations. I knew that if I pursued my talents this would lead me to the ability to pay myself which if I become successful enough it will also allow me to have financial freedom!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is my style of cooking and dish creation. I went from setting up on the patio to owning and operating my own food truck! I got to where I am today professionally through hard work and networking. No, it was not easy! There were a lot of challenges and heartbreaks. There were people that reneged on their promises but I never gave up because I believed in myself. I’ve learned to trust and believe in my faith in God and I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I want the world to know that Da Chicken lab takes pride and joy in every dish that we make.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m generally at home and when I am, I meditate and I’m reading my bible, I play video games or go play tennis. I also love to work out and box as a hobby. However, when I am hanging with friends, we hang out at Swagger or The Spot in Third Ward for some GOOD DRINKS! Or brunch at Grace’s.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give thanks to Morlin Broussard with The Dowling Cigar Spot and David Kelly, Tonya Sorrell & Robert Sorrell with The Duck Off Sports Bar for believing in me and allowing Da Chicken Lab to serve their customers at their establishment. I gained a lot of exposure and experience. I would also like to thank my mom, my son and family for the support and encouragement.
