Meet Deondria Brown | Hair Stylist
We had the good fortune of connecting with Deondria Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Deondria, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson my business has taught me is to never give up and always believe in myself. No successful business will be easy. I understand that the goal is to aim for perfection, however there will be some challenging days but I always pray, try my best, push through and overcome any obstacle.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m Deondria Brown and I’ll share with you how the seed of creativeness was planted and how it has grown with an overflow of success! At the age of 8, I was totally inspired by my aunt, mimicking her styles on every doll I owned. I knew then that was my gift and I hungered to pursue it at an early age. Trying to learn and assist her anytime offered.
However, I was only 8 and I was clueless on how my gift and dream would come to pass (not knowing anything about adult life). Only being able to enjoy braiding my dolls synthetic hair. Reaching adulthood, life occurred and between working my 9-5 job I knew was only a steppingstone and I wanted to control my own destiny.
Well, now here’s the great part, while at school one day God gave me an epiphany to pursue my passion and invest in myself. All the hard work and dedication I was putting into my employer, now the time has approached we’re as I shall invest in myself!
Finally, I stepped out on faith and started “DD.Diditt” braids & more, committing fully to my business. Which can always have a rocky start but it’s not about how you start it is about how you finish! Within that year of ups and downs I was able to build my business, network, friendships, and clientele.
I put my all into my business, dedicated my late nights and early mornings. I am thankful to have something of my own and able to make a great impact on others, building their self-confidence and enhancing their inner/outer beauty.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in Houston we have a variety of different cultural restaurants and hang outs that may be pleasing and satisfying to all. However, if my best friend was visiting the area and I wanted to show her the best time ever some places we would eat would be Dona Leti’s Restaurant & Bar, Traveler’s Table ,Prey Houston, and end with dinner at Guard and Grace. Some outings we would attend would be The Houston Improv, Painting with a Twist, Gangnam Spa Healing Paradise, and Glitter Karaoke just to name a few.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give a special shout out to my husband, family and clients. The love and encouragement my husband gave me when deciding to leave my job and follow my passion, the support from my family and the joy my clients bring me seeing their expression of exuberance after getting their hair done also, being able to make them feel better about themselves. Over the years I gained a lot of experience as a hairstylist that is so much that comes with the business. Apart from knowing how to do hair you have to learn great customer service, patience, and having empathy. Most of all I actually love what I do.
