Meet Chelsea Sereal | Event Signage & Branding
We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsea Sereal and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chelsea, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I started The Sereal Experience while in grad school and working full time. I will be honest, that was not the best idea lol. It is extremely tough working full time, going to school, and trying to run a successful business. I made it a goal this year to prioritize self care and spend more time with family and friends. I think it is essential for everyone to have a good work-life balance. If you don’t take the time to relax and recharge, you will eventually become drained.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I create customized acrylic signage for birthday parties, weddings, corporate events, etc. I love personalized items and keepsakes which is one of the reasons why I started this The Sereal Experience. I come from a creative family and art is really therapeutic for me. Starting a business wasn’t easy, especially when you are a perfectionist. I had to eliminate any negative thoughts from my mind and just start. I believe school has helped me understand and shape how I want to run my business. I am big on excellent customer service and making sure all of my clients are satisfied with their items.
One of the lessons I would say that I’ve learned is to be patient and focus on your own journey. Sometimes, I find myself getting discouraged and comparing my year one to someone else’s year ten. Everything will align when the time is right.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First, we start the day with a mimosa or two at Graces, StateFare, or A’bouzy. Then, we will go to one of the pop-up museums, explore and get some great pictures. For dinner, we would go to La Lucha, Davis Street, or Rouxpour since they have some of the BEST oysters, and then head to Sugar Room for a fun night.
By the way, this was a hard question. Houston has so many great places.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My village is truly top tier; I am NOTHING without my support system. But, if there is one person I can give my thanks to, it is my amazing mother, Aretha. I am so grateful to have a parent that pushes and believes in me even when I do not believe in myself. She is one of the greatest gifts God has given me.
