Meet Chef Diego Navarro | Chef, entrepreneur and business owner
We had the good fortune of connecting with Chef Diego Navarro and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chef Diego, how does your business help the community?
there is a big chunk of the community that has never tried authentic Mexican food or had the opportunity to travel to Mexico. So, in a way we are offering an experience to travel to Mexico without having to leave the city.
At the end is educating people about what true Mexican foo really is, new flavors, new products, other techniques of cooking that are reflected in each dish. We have various dishes from different regions of Mexico, such as Veracruz, Michoacan, Puebla, Mexico City, Yucatan, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Sinaloa, Baja California, etc.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
first of all my grad University is the best one in Mexico for Bachelors degrees in gastronomy, great teachers from around the world and different backgrounds. Second the opportunity I had to work at the best resort in Mexico, Rosewood Mayakoba in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico, I had a couple of mentors who made an impact in work ethics, bringing and giving the most to the guest, so they can have the best experience, where I worked for three years. I had to quit my job to get my Masters degree in San Sebastian, Basque Country, Spain. Where I learned to take a new perspective and a new one regarding to techniques, creativity and products. the best University in the world and the best chefs in the world teaching there or giving master classes. (just pick any from the 50 best restaurants list)
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take him to eat texan bbq, NASA, the shopping malls from Galleria, River Oaks and midtown. A night out to Downtown Houston and cajun food in Galveston. Keeping in mind his from Mexico. Also there are some beautiful parks worth visiting
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family ( Dad, mom, brother and his wife). My past mentors and professors at both Universities from my graduate degree to my masters degree
