Med center to Downtown?

moving to Houston this month and starting work as a new grad soon. Found a place in The med center I like. I was just wondering if the commute, which is 25 min is good? My budget is 1500 for a 1 bed, ideally in a safer location as I lived in eado last summer and it wasn’t to my liking. Any suggestions would be appreciated as well! Thank you!
