Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs names new director to lead Houston’s arts and culture efforts

The Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs has a new director as of May 4.

Mayor Sylvester Turner appointed Necole Irvin to lead MOCA, where she will serve as the chief cultural policy adviser to Turner. She will also be responsible for implementing the city’s Arts and Cultural Plan and advocating for Houston’s creative community.

“I trust Director Necole Irvin to provide exceptional guidance and strengthen partnerships as the arts and cultural community recover from Covid-19,” Turner said.
