March Madness Music Festival Today

Has anyone attended the March Madness Festival in Houston today? My friend, who invited me and requested a ticket on my behalf, can't make it. I'm supposed to be a guest and live quite far from downtown. I'm curious if they will let me in without my friend being present, as long as I show my ID and my name is on the guest list. Do they usually check IDs upon entry to the music festival?
