Makeover/ Makeup shopping

Hi! I'm looking to completely redo my makeup routine and don't trust Sephora or Mac to have employees that really know my face shape. Not interested in buying a MUA's own makeup line and don't want to spend $200 for an hour of their time shopping. Want to buy regular makeup from Sephora or Nordstrom's or something and just know how to apply it/ colors/ brands I should use.

Any recommendations?
