Major insurance provider acquires automotive-focused co. based in The Woodlands

New York-based Assurant Inc. (NYSE: AIZ), which provides a variety of risk management products and services, recently acquired American Financial & Automotive Services Inc., which is based in The Woodlands.

Assurant paid $157.5 million, according to the company’s first-quarter earnings filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
