Major Houston-based food distributor to pitch in after food bank ammonia leak

Houston-based Sysco Corp. (NYSE: SYY) is donating $50,000 and hundreds of thousands of pounds of food to the Houston Food Bank, the latest corporate donation to the nonprofit after it lost nearly 2 million pounds of food in an ammonia leak. 

Sysco is donating 200,000 pounds of produce from several of its suppliers and 40,000 pounds of turkeys ahead of Thanksgiving, the company announced Nov. 25.
