Maintenance said I’m responsible for broken pipe when we removed our washer.

We are moving and sold our washer dryer. When disconnecting the pipe broke in the wall. Maintenance said 2 words "renters insurance". Then followed up with they are supposed to connect and disconnect them. The only thing we found in the lease was this. Are we really responsible for the damages?
