Lutheran North Academy on 34th Street, formerly Lutheran High North, is closing for good.

This week the Board of Directors that oversees Lutheran schools in the Houston area announced that Lutheran North Academy on 34th Street between Shepherd and Ella will close for good.

They've posted a closing announcement to the web site. It came down to critically declining enrollment. There was a meeting last night for parents; we were shown a graph of enrollment numbers going back 25 or so years. Enrollment hasn't increased from the prior year in a couple of decades.

Our son is a graduating senior this year, so we are fortunate. I feel for the younger kids and teachers. I guess the school has operated for 40+ years. I thought those who attended, or know someone who did, might want a heads-up, should they wish to visit for nostalgia's sake while they still can.

On a related note, anyone with kids in another private school in the Houston area that's seeing declining enrollment?
