Looks Like ‘Masterchef’ Winner Christine Ha Has a New Houston Restaurant in the Works

Xin Chao will take over the space recently vacated by Decatur Bar & Pop-Up Factory
After the wildly successful opening of her stall The Blind Goat at Bravery Chef Hall, it looks like Masterchef winner Christine Ha has an exciting new standalone restaurant in the works.
Filings with the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts indicate that a new spot called Xin Chao, which means “hello” in Vietnamese, will open at 2310 Decatur Street, inside the space that formerly housed Decatur Bar & Pop-Up Factory. Business filings for an LLC established for the restaurant back in December also list Ha as a managing partner.
Details on the new project are scant at present, but an Instagram account established for the restaurant announces that it will serve dishes made from recipes “passed down to us from our family,” and made with local ingredients. For anyone who’s had the opportunity to stop into Bravery Chef Hall for a bowl of Ha’s incredible goat curry, the idea that she’ll have a big new space (and kitchen!) in which to create new dishes is seriously exciting.
Stay tuned for more details on what the menu will look like at Xin Chao, and when it’s expected to open.
