Looking for friends and tennis buddies in Houston/Katy area
Hi Houston! I am moving to Houston this summer around June after living in the Pacific Northwest for almost 6 years. I am very excited to explore the city and make new friends.
I am 29 M, recently graduated from grad school, and will start working in an energy company in the energy corridor. For the past 6 years, I've been mainly focused on grad school and research, I didn't have a lot of social activities except playing tennis with my office mates, and I probably need to pick up social skills again. I love taking photos, flying drones, visiting museums, and going to concerts. But my favorite thing is playing tennis. I have played tennis for 8 years and am between 3 and 3.5, and I usually play 1-2 sets with friends. At my peak, I can play against university tennis club students (some say I am 4.0+ but I don't think so). I want to meet people from my age group, especially those who enjoy playing tennis and are in a similar skill range. I have some questions
- Is it necessary to join a club in Houston or the Katy area to play tennis indoors? I noticed that the summer is hot and humid, and I am not sure outdoors tennis is an option. Where are the best options if I live in Katy/Richmond and work in the energy corridor? How much does it cost to play tennis indoors if it's necessary?
- Where do I meet people from my age group? I noticed that Katy is more suitable for families with kids and not ideal for folks in their 20s. Should I sign up for online Facebook groups or follow some Instagram accounts to get info about the latest events?
Feel free to shoot me a message if you want to hang out and play tennis. I am looking forward to meeting you in person this summer! I will buy you coffees or beers
