Looking for Child Christmas Toy Charity Orgs to Support

Tl;Dr: Can anyone recommend a charitable org through which I could purchase Christmas gifts for kids who otherwise wouldn’t be getting gifts?

When I was a kid, every Christmas, my parents would volunteer to buy Christmas presents a child whose parents couldn’t afford to buy gifts, or who was in foster care, or other similar situations. They’d buy gifts from a “Letter to Santa” the kid would write, as well as some necessities like clothing, school supplies, etc.

My parent’s church arranged the service, found the kids in need, got wish lists from the kids, found out what other items the specific child needed, and delivered the gifts.

I would love to do the same this year, but I don’t know where to find these organizations. I’ve only really ever heard of churches doing it, and we don’t attend any church regularly. Also, I didn’t grow up in Houston, so my folks’ church is in another city.

I’m not at all opposed to going through a church, or a non-religious org, I just wouldn’t know where to start.

Can anyone offer any suggestions for reputable groups that do this sort of thing?
