Looking for a Houston gift for my friend

I am not good with potted plants, or taking care of plants in general, but I am visiting a friend this summer and I am looking for a small potted plant that I would be able to take in a plane across the country to the Pacific Northwest.

Would anyone know of any Houston specific plants that I could bring in a pot? Cacti are welcome and probably preferred, but I don’t think there’s many that are native to Houston and stay within a reasonable travel size.

I can expand to all of Texas if needed and if anyone here has any advice on where to go or what to look for I would be happy to receive any help. Thank you
