Looking for a first apartment

Me and my fiancee are looking for our first apartment (woohoo!). Our budget is between $900-$1100 and safety is definitely my number one priority for us. We both work in the spring branch/oak forest area and we'd really like to commute less than 30 minutes if possible. Any areas of recommendation or places to search would be greatly appreciated!
