Local business refusing to pay me for my last week of work, after voluntary resignation.
Unfortunately two things happened this past Friday. I ended my time at a local business called Decision Frameworks, after putting in a two weeks notice and working those two weeks, and was forced to file an unpaid wages claim against the company and Ellen Coopersmith (CEO) due to my paycheck being reversed and being told that working from home is the reason I am not being paid, even though I worked during this time, and we all regularly worked both in-office and at home. For reference, the CEO works half her time from her second home in Colorado.
I did my best to set up the company to work for a few weeks after my leave including creating social media content, and an entire years worth of content scheduling for both LinkedIn and Email campaigns. I also worked with Midnight Marketing, the company’s 3rd party marketing agency to provide information on how to follow in my footsteps.
It's unfortunate that it has come to this as while my time at the company helped me grow, my accomplishments were not recognized, the inability for others to help in ways they were directed, and the amount I was over worked and expected to work after hours ultimately led me to find another job.
I wanted to make this post as a warning for anyone in marketing who may be applying to their open position to replace me to not work for this company. I was overworked, under appreciated, and never provided the help or assistance I was promised to ensure tasks could be completed.
