Left lane violators

As a native Houstonian, I’m sick and tired of selfish and absent-minded drivers that plop themselves in the left lane of a highway without passing. The Katy Fwy is notorious for this. Seven lanes and there are people that decide to cruise in the far left lane, no one in front of them, at the expense of everyone else trying to pass them, totally oblivious that they’re creating a traffic jam. This contributes to traffic and the vast majority of road rage incidents.

What needs to be done to spread awareness? Clearly Houston drivers don’t remember a whole lot from drivers ed (assuming they’re licensed).

If you drive outside the city, almost everyone seems to respect the left lane passing rule. Maybe because they have signs and DPS that’ll pull you butt out of traffic and write you a ticket for clogging the roadway. What does it take to have that done here?
