Learning to Love Yourself
Each person, in their lives, has encountered big “T” trauma and little “T” trauma. Dealing with these traumas, they have molded you into the person you are now. A great deal of energy workers, therapists, and coaches have begun to use one or more of these techniques to clear the path to wellness.
Here are some great tips to release some of the trauma from your life and open yourself up to the abundance that life has to offer. Â
- Breathe- become very conscious of your breathing. One of my favorite breaths is the box breath. Simple to do and easy to learn. Exhale all the air out of your lungs, then begin slowly breathing in for 4 counts (i.e. 1, 2,3 4) and hold your breath for 4 counts as well, then exhale for 4 counts and repeat until you feel your energy shift. Â
Becoming more aware of your breathing is key to reducing stress, promoting relaxation, and improving focus. Sit in a comfortable position and begin to be in your body more. This practice takes time but will greatly enhance your sense of calm and focus. Â
- Positive Affirmations- The soundtrack that is in your head controls your actions. You will need to change your soundtrack in order to change your trajectory of life. Music has always played a huge part in my life, so my internal dialogue is usually tied to a song from my past. The same can be said of our thought patterns. Â
If you were constantly hearing negative thoughts growing up, they then become the soundtrack of your life. Over-protected parents were once under-protected children. So it can be said that each and every relationship you have had as an adult is based on the events of your past. If you see yourself in the same “pattern”, that is a soundtrack and you have the ability to change the tune. Â
- Confidence is Key: I tell all my clients to stand in front of a mirror for 3 minutes a day, not to pick themselves apart ( checking for wrinkles, gray hairs, or cellulite) but to ignite that self-love inside them. To look into the eyes of the person staring back at you and fall in love. Â
There is not enough of that going around nowadays. We live in a world of filters, comparison, and keeping up with the Jones’ that is destroying the moral and emotional fiber of our beings. You are perfectly made and are absolutely wonderful. Â
Learning to love yourself is not just skin deep, it is a journey of epic proportions that can transform your life and your relationship, not only with yourself but with the world around you. Have fun falling in love with yourself.
