‘Lawyer’ tried to scam my father for 15k

Earlier today someone who claimed to be a lawyer called my father and told him I had been in a major car accident, they claimed I was arrested because I was drunk and on drugs.

( I don't drink or do drugs) and the person I hit was in critical condition. They asked him for 15k and when he said he didn't have it they hung up on him and someone else proceeded to call him claiming they were me.

I think my father was panicking at this point and somehow wasn't able to realize that he was not talking to me. I got home from work and found out about all of this, I was so confused.

Has anyone else experienced this?
